1. About the CAN-SPAM Act
The CAN-SPAM Act (Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing Act) is a U.S. law that sets rules for commercial email messages, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to stop receiving emails, and spells out penalties for violations.
2. Our Compliance
EmailVer complies with the CAN-SPAM Act by ensuring that:
- We do not use false or misleading header information in any email we send
- We do not use deceptive subject lines
- We identify our messages as advertisements where applicable
- We include our valid physical business address in all commercial emails
- We honor opt-out and unsubscribe requests within 10 business days
- We monitor the actions of any third parties who handle email on our behalf
3. How EmailVer Helps You Stay Compliant
Our email verification service helps you maintain CAN-SPAM compliance by identifying invalid, inactive, and potentially harmful email addresses in your lists. By removing these addresses before sending:
- You reduce bounce rates, which can trigger spam filters and hurt your sender reputation
- You avoid sending to spam traps, which can result in blacklisting
- You maintain a clean, engaged subscriber list
- You demonstrate good-faith email practices to ISPs and regulators
4. Your Responsibilities
As an EmailVer user, you are responsible for:
- Ensuring your email lists are permission-based and lawfully collected
- Including a clear and conspicuous unsubscribe mechanism in your emails
- Honoring unsubscribe requests promptly
- Not using our verification service to facilitate unsolicited bulk email (spam)
- Complying with all applicable email marketing laws in your jurisdiction
5. Prohibited Uses
You may not use EmailVer to verify email lists that were purchased, scraped, or otherwise obtained without the consent of the email address owners. Using our service to facilitate spam or any form of unsolicited email is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account termination.
6. Reporting Violations
If you believe an EmailVer user is violating the CAN-SPAM Act, please report it via our contact page. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.
